Grandmother Tree & The Feathered Serpent

about

"The 5th track was recorded live onsite at Wulambiny Momoli/Mt Warning, a sacred site on the East Coast of Australia. After a 2h barefoot climb, I set my recording gear up amidst a cluster of grass trees that formed a natural gateway. The cicada's, butterflies + overall energy buzzed of flight + sky. Here, I recorded what I later refered to as the "feathered serpent" ( felt to be the ancient Masculine) parts of the song. On returning home I sensed there was more to be sung. I returned 2 days later, this time to the base of the mountain + was drawn to a very particular sacred old tree. Amidst the leaves of the forest floor I sang while bush turkey perched on the roots, watched over my shoulder. These were the Grandmother tree( ancient Feminine parts) parts of the song linked to the stars + The Bird Tribes. Back in my studio the songs of above + below wove together to create 'Grandmother Tree & The Feathered Serpent".
I would like to acknowledge + pay respect to the Ngarakwal/Githabul + Bundjalung traditional custodians of this powerful volcanic country." Deya

Layers of acapella indigenous voices sing together within a mystical & trancsendental sonic landscape. Wind chime like bells, mountain river water running and native Australian birds create a hypnotic and soothingly sacred soundtrack.
